The Financial Manager holds a prominent role in ensuring the operational and extramural funds for IEE's programs and research are conducted in an effective manner in accordance with applicable policies and regulations. For large-scale, multi-investigator and/or multi-subcontractor awards (most notably in the complex administration of current IMI awards) they will work as a liaison between the PI, funding agency, relevant campus departments and the Office of Research to troubleshoot complex contract negotiations, compiling data to address unacceptable terms and conditions, and working to find appropriate and feasible solutions. The Financial Manager also evaluates spending patterns and produces data to advise PIs on long-range expenditure planning while independently consulting with the principal investigators (PIs) and Assistant Director on the appropriate management of funds.
